The college basketball season is underway and two teams remain the co-favorites to cut down the nets come April in Glendale, Arizona.

The Kansas Jayhawks and Purdue Boilermakers remain at the top of the oddsboard at +1100 (bet $10 to win $120 total).

Top-ranked Kansas beat Kentucky 89-84 in a battle of college hoops blue bloods in the Champions Classic last week.

Purdue is led by reigning National Player of the Year Zach Edey, a 7-foot-4 center.

The Arizona Wildcats, who beat Duke 78-73 on Nov. 10, moved from +2500 at the start of the season to +1600, same as the Blue Devils.

John Calipari’s Wildcats, off to a 3-1 start, including the loss to the Jayhawks, saw their odds improve from +2000 to +1800.

Duke coach Jon Scheyer returns four starters, including preseason All-American big man Kyle Filipowski. The Blue Devils fell from +1400 to +1600 after losing to Arizona.

Taking a tumble on the odds list was the Michigan State Spartans, who fell from +1800 to +2200 after losing two of their first three games. Tom Izzo’s squad got upset in overtime by James Madison in the opener and lost to the Blue Devils 74-65.

The Jayhawks, in pursuit of their seventh national championship (four NCAA Tournament titles and two Helms national championships in 1922-23), are boosted by transfer center Hunter Dickinson, a two-time All-Big Ten player for the Michigan Wolverines.

Kentucky, the betting favorite in the spring, saw eight scholarship players leave the team during the offseason, but Calipari brought in a powerhouse freshman class.

“For a blue blood to not have won multiple games in any NCAA Tournament since 2019 is an eyebrow-raiser, but Calipari brings in the nation’s No. 1 freshman class,” FOX Sports college basketball analyst John Fanta said. “That said, what college hoops has shown us, particularly in recent years, is that experience wins.”

Defending champion UConn’s odds remained at +2200 after being at +1800 heading into the summer.
