Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season is in full swing, and we’ve got you covered with all the action from around the league!
Kicking things off, Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions took down reigning Super Bowl champions Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a stunner on Thursday.
The action continues Sunday with a slew of top-tier games. The Carolina Panthers opened up with a loss at the Atlanta Falcons in an NFC South Division showdown, a game where No. 1 overall draft pick Bryce Young made his NFL debut. Other star rookies who suited up for the first time Sunday included Indianapolis Colts‘ new starting QB Anthony Richardson, Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson, and second overall pick and new Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud, to name a few.
The afternoon card featured a rivalry as old as time, with Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers taking down Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears. The Dallas Cowboys visit the New York Giants to close out the day.

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
Big block!
After getting the Giants’ offense to stall out in field goal range in the game’s opening drive, the Cowboys not only made sure that they wouldn’t score, but they got some points themselves. Dallas blocked the field goal kick and Noah Igbinoghene scooped the ball up to score a touchdown before the Cowboys’ offense took the field, going up 6-0.
The first of many
Preseason Defensive Player of the Year favorite Micah Parsons ended the Giants’ second drive by sacking Daniel Jones, likely the start of another strong season for the Cowboys linebacker.
Going the other way
The Cowboys’ defense added to the scoring when a hard hit on Saquon Barkley allowed DaRon Bland to get an interception and return all the way for a touchdown to put Dallas up, 16-0.
Not on Gilmore’s watch
Stephon Gilmore made a big play in his Cowboys debut, making a diving play in order to get the interception off Jones in the second quarter to set Dallas up again for another score that put it up 26-0 in the second quarter.

FINAL: Los Angeles Rams 30, Seattle Seahawks 13
Rams take early lead
Seattle scored a field goal on the opening possession of the game. Then Los Angeles put together a 16-play scoring drive that ended with Kyren Williams running in a goal-line score.
DK gets his first
Geno Smith hit wide receiver DK Metcalf for a 10-yard Seattle touchdown.
Just give it to Williams
Two plays after Matthew Stafford hit Tutu Atwell for a 44-yard completion, Williams ran in his second touchdown.
Rams extend their lead
Up 17-13, the Rams chose to go for it on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line, and Cam Akers punched in the touchdown.
FINAL: Green Bay Packers 38, Chicago Bears 20
The J-Love era begins
After Chicago turned it over on downs to begin the game, Green Bay drew first blood. On the 11th play of the drive, Love hit wide receiver Romeo Doubs in the back of the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown.
Tempers flaring
They’re shoving and fighting in the Windy City.
The Aaron Jones drive
Jones hauled in a pass from Love and took it 51 yards downfield. Three plays later, Jones punched in a goal-line touchdown.
Keeping up with Aaron Jones
Faced with a fourth-and-3 on the Chicago 35-yard line, Green Bay stretched its lead to three scores. Love hit Jones for the first down, and then the running back took off for a 35-yard touchdown.
Gnawing back
The Bears showed some life late in the third quarter when quarterback Justin Fields hit wide receiver Darnell Mooney for a 20-yard touchdown. Chicago then converted a two-point conversion, trailing 24-14.
Pack get it back
On the fourth play of the ensuing drive, Doubs hooked up with tight end Luke Musgrave on a chaotic 37-yard completion. One play later, Love hooked up with Doubs for another touchdown.
From bad to worse
Packers linebacker Quay Walker intercepted Fields and ran the pick back for a touchdown.
FINAL: Las Vegas Raiders 17, Denver Broncos 16
Almost an amazing start …
Denver appeared to recover an onside kick attempt to begin the game, but it was flagged for illegal touching.
New faces connect
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers hooked up for a Las Vegas touchdown on the opening possession of the game.
Broncos answer
A 14-play Broncos drive ended with quarterback Russell Wilson scrambling and finding wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey in the back of the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown. With that said, the Broncos missed the extra point.
Just get open!
Trying to buy time, Wilson ran around and found Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton in the back of the end zone for six.
A pick is a pick
Garoppolo’s pass was deflected into the air in the end zone and intercepted by Broncos safety Kareem Jackson.
Raiders retake lead
After holding Denver to a field goal, Las Vegas took the lead on the next possession. On the sixth play of the drive, Garoppolo hit Meyers for a 6-yard score, putting the Raiders up 17-16.
FINAL: Miami Dolphins 36, Los Angeles Chargers 34
Chargers strike first
Miami got the ball into the red zone on the opening possession, but quarterback Tua Tagovailoa fumbled inside the 5-yard line. Then the Chargers put together a 14-play drive that ended with Austin Ekeler running in a goal-line score.
Phins respond
The Dolphins came right back down the field, reaching the end zone in nine plays. Raheem Mostert put the finishing touches on the touchdown drive with a 2-yard scoring run.
Ekeler won’t go down
Ekeler ran through Miami’s defense for a 55-yard gain, as shown below, which led to the Chargers punching it in three plays later.
It’s a shootout
Down 24-20 late in the third quarter, Tagovailoa hit Tyreek Hill for a 35-yard touchdown.
Chargers respond
On the second play of the next drive, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert hit Ekeler for a 35-yard pickup. Later in the drive, Joshua Kelley ran in the go-ahead score.
THIS GAME IS NUTS
After trading field goals, the Dolphins came down the field and took the lead. The drive was sparked by Tagovailoa hitting Hill for a 47-yard completion. Later in the drive, the two hooked up for the go-ahead touchdown … but Jason Sanders MISSED the extra point.
FINAL: Philadelphia Eagles 25, New England Patriots 20
Pick-six
The Eagles got a field goal on the opening possession of the game. Then cornerback Darius Slay picked off Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, running the interception back 70 yards for a touchdown.
All Birds early
New Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott fumbled on the first play of the ensuing possession. Four plays later, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts hit wide receiver DeVonta Smith for a 5-yard touchdown. With that said, Philadelphia missed the extra point.
Pats get in the game
Jones hit tight end Hunter Henry for a 9-yard touchdown, getting the Patriots on the board.
We got a game
Jones hit wide receiver Kendrick Bourne for a 19-yard touchdown to pull the Patriots within two points.
Staying in it
Philadelphia made three field goals throughout the second half. Then late in the fourth quarter, New England got back to within one score when Jones hit Bourne in the back of the end zone. The Patriots failed to convert a two-point attempt, though.
FINAL: Atlanta Falcons 24, Carolina Panthers 10
Falcons capitalize
Three plays after Jessie Bates picked off Young, rookie running back Bijan Robinson shed a tackle in the red zone and ran in the completion for an 11-yard Falcons score.
Bryce gets TD No. 1
Young hit tight end Hayden Hurst for his first NFL touchdown, getting the Panthers even with the Falcons at seven apiece.
I’m still here!
Tyler Allgeier gave the Falcons the lead on a 3-yard rushing touchdown in the opening moments of the fourth quarter. Later in the quarter, he gave the Falcons a two-score lead with another goal-line score.
FINAL: Jacksonville Jaguars 31, Indianapolis Colts 21

Trevor Lawrence hit Ridley in the back of the end zone for the new duo’s first scoring hookup.
I got this
Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson ran in a goal-line score for the Colts, the first of his NFL career.

Jags got some receivers …
Ridley is back, but don’t forget about Zay Jones. The latter reeled in a remarkable catch in the back-corner of the end zone for Jacksonville’s second touchdown.
Second-and-whatever
Faced with a second-and-28, Richardson got the ball out to Michael Pittman Jr., and the wide receiver got some blocks and ran through Jacksonville’s defense for a touchdown.
‘Tis confusion
Lawrence got hit and running back Tank Bigsby picked up the loose ball — which he appeared to think was an incomplete pass. Then Bigsby had the ball knocked out of his hands, and DeForest Buckner ran it back for a Colts touchdown.
Back in front
Bigsby ran in a goal-line score, giving the Jaguars the lead. Then Jaguars cornerback Tyson Campbell picked off Richardson. Three plays later, Travis Etienne ran his way out of a series of tackles and ran in a 26-yard touchdown, giving the Jaguars a 10-point lead.
FINAL: San Francisco 49ers 30, Pittsburgh Steelers 7
Welcome back, Brock Purdy
The 49ers second-year quarterback hit wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk for the first touchdown of the Sunday slate.
That ball is mine
Purdy threw it up for Aiyuk, and the San Francisco wide receiver came down with the contested touchdown reception, his second of the game.

Pittsburgh shows life
After going down 20-0, the Steelers found the end zone right before halftime, as Kenny Pickett connected with tight end Pat Freiermuth for a 3-yard score.

Christian McCaffrey got the call on the run, shed some tackles, got a downfield block and went 65 yards for the San Francisco touchdown.

FINAL: Washington Commanders 20, Arizona Cardinals 16
2022 draft picks connect
Scrambling to his left, Commanders quarterback Sam Howell found running back Brian Robinson near the pylon for the score.
OOPS!
With just 1:02 remaining in the first half, Howell was strip-sacked by Cardinals linebacker Dennis Gardeck, and Cameron Thomas recovered the loose ball for a touchdown. Washington then squeezed out a field goal before halftime, trailing 13-10.
Howell does it himself
Faced with a third-and-goal at the 6-yard line, Washington’s quarterback ran in a touchdown.
FINAL: Cincinnati Bengals 24, Cleveland Browns 3
Deshaun Watson takes it himself
Cleveland connected on a field goal early in the first half, and Watson ran in a 13-yard touchdown just before halftime. The Browns led 10-0.
Browns in control
Shortly after Myles Garrett came up with a fourth-down sack of Joe Burrow, Cleveland stretched its lead to three scores when Watson hit tight end Harrison Bryant for a 3-yard touchdown. The Browns then converted a two-point attempt, taking a 24-3 lead.
FINAL: New Orleans Saints 16, Tennessee Titans 15
Derrick Henry is still strong
Tennessee’s star running back is back stiff-arming defenders into next Tuesday. The two teams combined for five field goals in the first half, as the Titans led 9-6 at the halftime break.
Saints pull ahead
Derek Carr threw his first touchdown pass as a Saint when he hit Rashid Shaheed for the 19-yard score.
FINAL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20, Minnesota Vikings 17
Go deep!
Kirk Cousins had time to throw, and he found rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison open downfield for the 39-yard Vikings touchdown.
Bucs answer
Mike Evans may not have a new contract, but he caught the Buccaneers’ first touchdown of the season, hauling in a 28-yard scoring pass from Baker Mayfield.
Lead change
Tampa Bay connected on a field goal but was gifted a first down thanks to an offside penalty on Jay Ward. Three plays later, Mayfield hit wide receiver Trey Palmer for the go-ahead touchdown.
Vikings strike back
Alexander Mattison refused to go down and ran into the end zone for the Minnesota touchdown.
Buccaneers put it away
Chase McLaughlin connected on a 57-yard field goal for the Buccaneers. Then after forcing the Vikings to go three-and-out, the Buccaneers ran out the clock to win the game.
FINAL: Baltimore Ravens 25, Houston Texans 9
Airborne!
Running back J.K. Dobbins went flying for Baltimore’s first touchdown.
Powering it in
Justice Hill thundered into the end zone for Baltimore’s second score early in the second half. After a penalty, the Ravens pulled off a two-point conversion. Then Houston turned it over on downs on its own 42-yard line. Five plays later, Hill ran in another goal-line score. The Ravens led 22-6.
8-3
Ravens star Lamar Jackson hit one of his new outside targets, Odell Beckham Jr., for a sizzling grab in the fourth quarter.
