About 600 people have been displaced and one person confirmed dead after a rainstorm ravaged the Iloko community in the Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.

This was revealed by the National Emergency Management Agency, in a statement posted on its X handle, while giving an assessment of the situation.

“NEMA Southwest Zonal Office, in collaboration with Osun State SEMA and community leaders, assessed the rainstorm disaster in Iloko, Oriade LGA of Osun State.

“The team, led by AZC Olanrewaju Kazeem, was warmly received by Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe.

“The Oba and community leaders appreciated the quick response and briefed the team on the situation.

“The assessment revealed extensive damage, including property destruction, loss of livelihoods, and one fatality. Over a thousand people were affected, and 600 displaced,” the agency stated.

Meanwhile, earlier in March, it was reported that residents and traders of Iloko-Ijesa lost property worth millions of naira to a heavy rainfall that wreaked havoc in the town, destroying several homes of residents.
