J.J. McCarthy’s odds ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft continue to surge.
Over the weekend, the former Michigan star’s odds to get drafted No. 2 moved to +800 from +950. That’s a considerable jump from +2000, which is where J.J. opened in this market.
The team favored to select McCarthy is Minnesota at +140. The Vikings have held that top spot for several weeks. However, the Denver Broncos are gaining steam, moving to +300 from +750 over the weekend.

The Vikings, Giants and Broncos are the top three teams to land J.J. McCarthy with four days left before draft night. Several mock drafts have had Minnesota moving up from the 11th overall pick into the top five in order to draft McCarthy.
FOX Sports lead college football analyst Joel Klatt is among them, having the Vikings swap the 11th pick and more to the Los Angeles Chargers for the fifth.

The Giants have the No. 6 pick and are second on the board to snag McCarthy. In fact, FOX Sports NFL insider Peter Schrager had New York trading up to the No. 4 pick to draft the prospect in his first mock draft for NFL Media.
“I know that the Giants have done all the work on and all the research on all of these quarterbacks, extensive on these top guys,” Schrager said on “The Herd.” “If they weren’t in the market for a quarterback, they wouldn’t be flying across the country to meet and take them out to dinner.”
Could Giants trade up for J.J. McCarthy?
When it comes to the Broncos, FOX Sports NFL Draft expert Rob Rang has them selecting McCarthy with the 12th overall pick in his latest mock draft.
“The Broncos also are on the lookout for a quarterback, but with just two of the top 120 picks of the 2024 NFL draft at their disposal, Denver lacks the resources to realistically move up and will be at the mercy of the teams selecting ahead of them,” Rang wrote of the pick.
There’s another J.J. draft market that’s on the move, and that’s the Over/Under (O/U) for where he’ll get selected.
FOX Sports betting analyst Patrick Everson wrote:
“On April 15 … McCarthy’s Over/Under draft position of 5.5 saw significant movement in both directions within literally just a few minutes. Under 5.5 opened as a -120 favorite, with Over 5.5 at -110. Under quickly shot to a -160 favorite, but almost as quickly, the Under price rubber-banded back to -120.
“Then it shot back up to -160 again, with all those moves taking place within 20 minutes or so.
As of Sunday afternoon, with the Draft four days out (at Circa Sports), Under 5.5 is -130 and Over 5.5 is even money (+100).”
