The Yobe State Government said it has completed the pilot operation of its Ynet 4G network planned to deliver internet service across the state.

The Yobe State Information Technology Development Agency (YITDA), which carried out the pilot testing of Ynet 4G network, said it is part of the broader digital transformation plan for the state.

Dr Adam Kachallah Mohammed, YITDA Director General, said that the Ynet 4G network project aligns with Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni’s digitalisation agenda, which seeks to extend digital access to every part of the state.

Mohammed reaffirmed YITDA’s commitment to ensuring that all areas within the state benefit from the new 4G network. This initiative is expected to support youth empowerment, foster technological growth, and lay the foundation for a more connected and digitally-transformed Yobe State.

YITDA: Phase one of Ynet 4G to deliver internet to government offices

“The Ynet project is progressing and we have achieved significant milestones aligning with our digital Gov, Hon. Mala Buni digitalisation agenda,” he said while also noting that YITDA has “successfully conducted pilot testing for phase 1 of our 4G internet coverage, and we plan to activate internet access for several offices that we have covered so far.”

During the inspection of the newly installed Ynet outlets, the Director General mentioned that phase 2 of the project would focus on expanding the 4G reach. He also emphasised the agency’s goal of achieving full internet coverage across Damaturu, the state capital, before launching phase 4 of the implementation process.

The presence of Ynet would serve as an avenue for empowering tech-savvy youths, who would act as agents responsible for distributing Ynet products and services, including internet access PINs, according to Mohammed.

These outlets, according to the YITDA Director General, are not only unique but are also powered by 24/7 solar energy, and they will serve as workstations for phone and computer repair and offer affordable phone charging services.

Currently, the key locations the internet testing covers include the Government House, Presidential Lodge, Maiduguri Roundabout, parts of the Federal Polytechnic, Bank Road, and the Governor’s Office, all within Damaturu.

As the project progresses, YITDA plans to extend coverage to more strategic areas in the state, ensuring seamless connectivity to drive economic growth across Yobe.

Mohammed reaffirmed YITDA’s commitment to ensuring that all areas within the state benefit from the new 4G network. This initiative is expected to support youth empowerment, foster technological growth, and lay the foundation for a more connected and digitally-transformed Yobe State.
