Sunday Dare, minister of youth and sports development, says some African teams have been invited to participate in the 2022 National Sports Festival in Delta.

The minister spoke on Thursday when he appeared on ‘Have Your Say’, the Radio Nigeria programme.

The forthcoming edition of the biennial games is tagged Delta 2022. It is scheduled to hold between November 28 and December 10 in Asaba.

Commenting on the event, Dare said an invitation had been extended to Ghana, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Benin Republic and Sierra Leone to present teams that would participate in the tournament.

“We want to make it an African show so we are adding some international flavour to it as we expect about 18,000 athletes to take part,” he said.

“The aim of involving teams from west Is principally to extend our sporting friendship to our ECOWAS brothers.”
