Eminent pastors, on Saturday, stressed the need to empower women in the country, so that they can live impactful lives.

Among those who made the call in Lagos were the Lead Pastor of the Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle Lawrence Achudume; wife of the Senior Pastor of the Covenant Christian Centre, Pastor Toyin Poju-Oyemade and the wife of the Senior Pastor of the Kingsway International Christian Centre, Pastor Yemisi Mathew-Ashimolowo.

A statement by the media office of the Victory Life Bible Church International said the clerics gave the advice at the Female Ministers’ Conference, held in honour of the convener of the conference, the late Rev Fola Achudume.

Achudume started hosting the programme 20 years ago

Stating the need for women’s empowerment, the widower, Apostle Achudume, said empowered women could inspire their families and generations to live a focused and meaningful life.

He said he was committed to preserving the vision of his wife, adding that, “Her dream of empowering women will continue to inspire generations, and as long as it’s alive, people will come together in her memory to continue her work.

“My wife was so passionate about women, always holding forth for them. She became their voice and it behooves us to see to it that her legacy is sustained.”

Pastor Poju-Oyemade called on Nigerians to love one another.

“The highest form of being is loving God, not necessarily the miracles or revelations, but loving God, because God is love.

“The Bible is the story of love. In ministry and our doing, how do we prioritise our love work? Can we spend more time asking how we can love more?”

On her part, Pastor Mathew-Ashimolowo said women should be blessings to others.

Speaking on the theme of the conference, “Evolve: Sharpening our living edge,” she said, “Evolve is changing for the better. We have to change; we have to move; we don’t have to remain the same.”

She stressed the need for self-knowledge, vision, information, strategy, excellence, and faith as essential forces for effective ministry.

In a welcome address, the Global Team Leader, Royal Ladies International, Bola Adeoye, said the late Achudume was a woman of many parts, touching the lives of children, youths, adults, women, vulnerable women, and widows.

“Her selflessness and dedication to empowering others will never be forgotten,” the team leader added.

Adeoye noted that the conference was a yearly event, with this being the sixth edition.

“We will continue Revd Fola’s vision and our team will keep the flag flying,” she said.

At the event, a chartered accountant, Sola Adesakin, shared practical wisdom on wealth creation.

“We must teach people not just the way of God but the methods of God.

“Jesus epitomises provision, and by embracing collaboration, expressing our needs, organising and taking action, leveraging our resources, visualising our goals, and empowering others, we can prosper in any economy, as seen in the biblical story of the widow in 2 Kings 4,” Adesakin said.
